Every photograph on this site, who took it, where it came from and what licence it is used under. The photographs are stock, and I would rather say so on a page like this than let them imply I was standing there with a camera.

On the Unsplash Licence

The Unsplash Licence permits free use, including commercially, without requiring permission or attribution. Attribution is not required, which is exactly why I am giving it. A site whose entire argument is that claims should be traceable to their source would look silly quietly using other people's work without naming them.

What I would rather be doing

Stock photography is a placeholder. It illustrates an article without adding anything to it, and anyone can license the same picture of a coffee cup.

What I actually want on these pages are photographs that could only come from me: the page in Principles and Practice of Sleep Medicine where the 70 to 120 minute range appears, the sleep logs I kept for six weeks in early 2026, screenshots of the primary sources I am working from. Those are worth more than a stock bedroom, both to a reader deciding whether to trust this and to me. As those get made, they will replace the images above and this page will record the change.

Reporting a problem with an image

If you believe an image here is misattributed, used outside its licence, or is yours and you would like it removed, contact me and I will act on it. Removals go in the corrections log like everything else, with the date and what changed.
